Today, we dedicated time to engaging with bodaboda riders within Eastlands to emphasize the critical importance of road safety and safe riding practices. During the session, we highlighted the essential items every bodaboda rider should have:
- A certified helmet for both the rider and passenger to prevent severe injuries in case of accidents.
- A reflective jacket to enhance visibility, especially at night or during low-light conditions.
- A well-maintained motorcycle in good working condition, including functional brakes, headlights, indicators, and tires.
- A valid riding license and proof of insurance to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
- A first aid kit for immediate response in case of emergencies.
We also shared critical road safety measures, including:
- Always adhering to traffic rules and road signs.
- Avoiding overloading passengers or goods.
- Maintaining safe speeds and avoiding reckless overtaking.
- Ensuring regular servicing and maintenance of the motorcycle.
- Staying vigilant and avoiding distractions, such as using phones while riding.
- Encouraging the use of pedestrian crossings and respecting other road users.
Our goal is to create a culture of safety among bodaboda riders to protect themselves, their passengers, and other road users. Together, we can reduce accidents and make our roads safer for everyone.
