Through practical experience, mentorship, and professional development, we aim to equip young people with the skills, confidence, and exposure needed to transition successfully into meaningful employment

The Opportunity Gap

Across Kenya and the region, many young graduates and students complete their studies with limited practical experience, making it difficult to compete in the job market. Despite having relevant academic qualifications, a significant number of young people remain unemployed or underemployed due to a lack of workplace exposure, professional networks, and hands-on skills.

This challenge disproportionately affects youth from underserved and marginalized communities, who often lack access to quality internships, mentorship, and career guidance. While internships are a critical pathway to employment, many opportunities are unpaid, informal, or inaccessible to those without financial support. Without targeted intervention, this gap continues to limit youth potential and slows socio-economic development

The program focuses on:

  • Improving employability, work readiness and supporting smooth transition from education to employment
  • Expanding access to professional networks ,mentorship and building confidence, discipline, and career clarity among youth

Our Strategic Focus

  • Structured internship placements within TMG Foundation and partner organizations
  • Hands-on work experience aligned to the intern’s field of study or career interests
  • Mentorship and supervision from experienced professionals
  • Life skills and workplace readiness training, including communication, teamwork, and time management
  • Safeguarding and professional ethics training
  • Career guidance and transition support, including CV writing, interview preparation, and job search skills

We work closely with partner organizations, institutions of learning, and community stakeholders to identify and place interns with the greatest need and strongest potential.

Program Impact

Through the Internship Program, TMG Foundation seeks to nurture a pipeline of competent, confident, and employable young professionals who are better prepared to contribute meaningfully to the workforce and society.

The program prioritizes equity, inclusion, and quality learning experiences, ensuring that interns not only gain work exposure but also grow personally and professionally.

Information for Internship Applicants

 

To qualify for a TMG Foundation Internship:

  • The applicant must be a student or recent graduate from a recognized institution
  • The applicant should demonstrate interest, commitment, and readiness to learn
  • Priority may be given to applicants from underserved or vulnerable backgrounds

Application & Selection Process

 

  • Applicants submit applications through a Foundation-led recruitment process
  • Shortlisted candidates are assessed through interviews and document review
  • Selected interns are matched to departments or partner organizations
  • Interns are assigned mentors/supervisors and onboarded into the program

Dr. Robin Mogere has been actively involved in practicing medicine for the past 30 years and holds an
MBChB from the University of Nairobi and an FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburg.

He previously worked at the Coast General Hospital and Taita Taveta District Hospital. He studied at Guys Hospital for Surgical Training and Specialization, before proceeding to the University of Nairobi as a Lecturer in the Surgery Department. Mr. Mogere has tirelessly served as a board member in the following institutions; Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, The Nairobi Hospital, and has been the Chairman as well as a board member of the Metro Group PLC since its inception.
